My what a busy couple of months we have had here at Pittendreich with lots of changes. Our refurbishment of soft furnishings is ongoing with new curtains and bedding now due for fitting end of April. We all look forward to these being fitted. We are just waiting on delivery of new blinds for our lounges and dining room.
The Lincoln 10K run came right past the front door of our home, we saw the opportunity to support the runners and get our residents out into the community to do something different with their day. In the days running up to the 10K our residents made supportive slogan flags that they could wave when they were watching the race. On race day, the residents enjoyed cheering on and waving at the runners as they ran past.
The weather is better, the sun is shining, and we all feel we want to get out and enjoy the days.
Both Staff and residents are very pleased to welcome our new maintenance man Alan to the home, we wish Alan well during his time with us. Alan has experience working as a Maintenance Man in a Residential Care Home as he worked at Barlochan Care Home for 7 years. Alan is ex Royal Navy and has also worked as an approved electrician and an Electrical Surveyor.
March has arrived and the refurbishment our Residents Kitchen is complete. We now have a bright, cheerful and well-equipped kitchen to enjoy.
Some of our residents enjoyed the morning out to the Town Hall to attend the Friendship club. They enjoyed catching up with some familiar faces and having a cuppa.
Two student nurses from UWS Dumfries Campus came along to visit Alma as part of their university project looking at promoting physical activity. The students researched literature to see what activities have been researched as being beneficial to the older generation that would benefit all or at least most individuals at Alma house and then came along and carried out these activities with an interactive session of various exercise activities. This has been the 3rd year we have supported the students who are ever so grateful for our support. Our residents had a fun filled afternoon.
