After a worrying start, with concerns of having to cancel due to the weather, the sun shone through the clouds on Kirksanton’s Summer Fete. A wonderful day was had by residents, friends, and family as well as the local community.

Elaine Cloudsdale, manager of Kirksanton Care Centre, said

“it was lovely to be able to invite the community into our home once again, and share this day with many friends.” The bouncy castle and ice cream van were huge hits, with plenty of other stalls to entertain all ages, from a tombola to a cake stand. Resident Marion Pearson says “I had a lovely day at the fete spending the day with family and friends having a BBQ and I won first prize a big cuddly teddy bear.”

Kirksanton has always been involved in the local community running various events throughout the year, but the long years of Covid have made it impossible for the care home to be part of the local community, with their focus on protecting the residents. Everyone from the residents to the local community is delighted that they can once again hold events in the beautiful gardens and grounds of Kirksanton.

Not only was much fun had by everyone on the day, but the Summer Fete raised £347. Elaine says,

“All the money raised goes into the residents’ comfort fund, which we will use towards having extra fun at Christmas time!”

It is brilliant to know that the money raised having fun, will go towards more lovely days and enjoyment for the residents at Kirksanton.

“We were delighted by the success of our Summer Fete,” says Elaine, “and are busy planning our next event a coffee morning in the Millom Guide Hut on Saturday 19th November.”

So, if you enjoyed the Summer Fete, make a note in your diary and keep an eye out for Kirksanton’s next fun-filled event later in the year.
