Throughout the month of January we have been preparing ourselves for the busy month of February. We have been designing and making decorations for Dignity Day which was on the 1st of February and also for Valentine’s Day. We have displayed some of the decorations in the foyer on our Digni–Tree for Dignity Day, we also made a lovely display for Digni-Tea which visitors were able to look at when they were entering and exiting the home.
We have also been doing some research into what our residents would have loved on their pancakes so that they’re able to enjoy pancakes on Shrove Tuesday with some of their favourite toppings.
We have also been busy making our Valentine’s Day raffle, where the rest of the resident’s decorations are now advertising.
Two student nurses from UWS Dumfries Campus came along to visit Alma as part of their university project looking at promoting physical activity. The students researched literature to see what activities have been researched as being beneficial to the older generation that would benefit all or at least most individuals at Alma house and then came along and carried out these activities with an interactive session of various exercise activities. This has been the 3rd year we have supported the students who are ever so grateful for our support. Our residents had a fun filled afternoon.read more
